A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis

Read by Malcolm

This book is a heart felt pouring out of emotion by the author after the death of his wife from cancer. He speaks of his feelings of lost for probably the most important person in his life and how it has coloured his faith with God. He is honest to admit that her death has brought doubt, anger and anguish with regards to his views on faith, life and dead as well as marriage. He uses his writings to mourn what he has lost and recognizes that death is an integral path of love and it has help him to grow in faith and the experience has matured him.

I found that this book did something better than provide answers, while reading about his anguish of having lost the love of his life and the grief he now bears, you get a sense that he is giving words to emotions that you might have face or are facing. Certainly a mark of an incredible writer and much like the Psalms allows us to be honest to God without rejecting or denying Him.
